I am a maker and designer of printed textiles. I'm also the founder of sallysally - a craft-based business aiming to share the joy of making with others. I use a range of craft and print processes in the development of my designs and work with screen and digital print to realise products, including readymade items and flat-pack kits.
I graduated from the MA in Creative Practice at Leeds Arts University in 2016 and now teach part-time on the course.
My MA project took the urban edgelands environment on the periphery of the city as a source of inspiration; exploring themes of liminality, order and chaos to produce hand and digital print samples and prototype products. My MA dissertation which explored the relevance of craft and the meaning of making in the digital age informed a subsequent peer reviewed paper presented at Making Futures 2017.
My on-going research interests include craft theory and practice, sustainable fashion, material culture and the interaction between the handmade and the digital in contemporary design and production.
I am a founder member of Leeds Print Workshop - a co-operative set up to provide affordable printmaking facilities and develop a vibrant community of printmakers in Leeds.
